Xplore Dundee became the first bus company in Scotland to achieve a 100% accessible low-floor fleet, meaning stepless entry and adjustable platforms to make it easier for young, elderly and disabled passengers to board safely, along with those in wheelchairs and buggies.  A recent addition to the fleet is the Emerald buses (used on services 5/5a and 22), which include audio-visual next-stop announcements. It is useful for passengers who are new to the area and a positive step for passengers who may have impairments to their sight or hearing.

Across Scotland, many public transport operators, from buses and trains to planes and ferries (including Xplore Dundee) recognise the Thistle Assistance Card Scheme. Accessible as either an app or a physical card, they are free to use for anyone who needs it for one journey or purpose, or use it every day. It is a discrete way of letting the bus driver know that you need a bit of extra assistance to help you travel safely and comfortably - such as needing extra time to find a seat. They are also useful during pregnancy, or if you have temporary mobility issues, when some extra thought and care are appreciated.

The drivers are happy to help however they can, as are the friendly team at the Travel Centre (located at 80-82 Commercial Street, in the City Centre).
